Taxonomy: Creating and retrieving TermIDs
TermIDs are used for grouping template types into categories of your choosing. The following are templates for which termIDs can be created:
- bookshelf
- deadline
- decision tree
- dissertation
- document
- event
- image
- news article
- profile (various types depending on model)
- research project
- service
- timeline
- video
If the templates mentioned above are tagged with their respective TermIDs upon creation, they can be filtered on Views Displays, showcasing all items with the same TermID.
Creating TermIDs
From the main menu, click Shortcuts and then Taxonomy to see all the taxonomy categories.
Click List Terms for the template type you wish to create termIDs
For instance, if a termID is needed for Events, click List Terms for Event Cagetories
Click Add term to create another termID for the category.
Click Save
Now that TermIDs have been generated, you need to retrieve their IDs to use in a Views Display for content filtering.
Retrieving termIDs
From the main menu, click Shortcuts and then Taxonomy to see all the taxonomy categories.
Click List Terms for the template type from which to retrieve the termID
Find the number associated with the term entered above
In this example, the termIDs for the event categories are as follows:
- Admissions: 100
- Advising: 85
- Alumni: 31
Select the relevant Views Display and add this termID to filter out content
On a Landing Page, select the appropriate View Display, one that accepts termIDs. You can tell which ones accept termIDs if in the title of the Views Display it says either:
- (requires all OR TermID + TermID OR TermID, TermID)
- (requires: all OR #/service/term/14,15)
Put the termID into the Arguments field.
In this example, this page will display all events that are tagged by Admissions.
