Columbia Sites Fall 2026 Updates

October 01, 2026

Happy Fall 2026!  Here's a look at the latest updates to the Columbia Sites platform.

Event Importer

Imported events and news will now update more quickly on your site.

We've improved the way Columbia Sites handles content that is automatically imported, such as events and news.

When imported content is added or updated, the site will now clear its stored version of that content so that visitors see the most recent information.

This helps prevent an older version of an imported event or news item from continuing to appear on our site.

No action is needed from site editors.

Image Styles

Directory images will now appear sharper, especially on high-resolution screens.

We've increased the size of the images used for directory listings from 260 x 260 pixels to 520 x 520 pixels.

This provides sharper-looking images, particularly on Retina and other high-resolution displays.

No action is needed from site editors. Existing directory content will automatically use the improved image sizes.

Breadcrumbs

Bookshelf pages now have improved breadcrumb navigation.

Breadcrumbs show visitors where they are within a site and provides an easy way to navigate back to previous pages.

We've added Bookshelf pages to te breadcrumb system, so pages using this content type will now display the appropriate breadcrumb navigation.

No action is needed from site editors.

SEO

Profile pages cannow be found by search engines.

We've updated Columbia Sites to allow search engines such as Google to find pages /profiles/.

No action is needed from site editors.

Faculty Profiles

We've expanded content management permissions for Faculty Rank taxonomy terms for sites using faculty profiles.

Content Managers can now edit or reorder Faculty Rank, providing greater control over how faculty ranks are organized and displayed.
